Öğe Emerging trajectory for disembedding: An online educational program for spatial thinking in a context of visual arts and mathematics education(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2024) Kuş, Mehtap; Newcombe, Nora S.This study interpreted students’ disembedding skills within the intersecting context of visual arts and mathematics, drawing upon studies on psychology, arts, and mathematics education. It aimed to identify an emerging trajectory for disembedding skill development by employing a design-based research methodology and novel interpretation of works of art. The study involved seven sixth grade students, following one-on-one teaching experiments with six students. They participated in an online program to support students’ spatial thinking, utilizing GeoGebra Classroom. Video recordings were watched, and students’ talks and drawings were analyzed to build an understanding of disembedding. The findings of the study revealed traces of shifts in students’ interpretation of works of art through the lens of disembedding. This study could contribute to our understanding of how learners develop spatial thinking in informal learning settings like mathematics and art museums.Öğe Analyzing undergraduate students' self confidence levels in terms of some variables(Elsevier, 2010) Avcu, Ramazan; Işıklar, Abdullah; Şar, Ali HaydarSelf confidence has a very significant impact both on expressing yourself during interpersonal relations and making up relations with others. Acting without self confidence may lead to isolation or retreatment of an individual from society. Because of that, therapists have been very much concerned about self confidence. Many people have difficulty in asserting their rights. These people should increase their self confidence levels in proper situations. In this context, self confidence education consists of modeling people who are self confident, acting to show that you are self confident enough and reacting instantly. This research was made in order to analyze undergraduate students' self confidence levels in terms of some variables. The population of the study consisted of four departments at Aksaray University. As a sample, 168 students studying at Aksaray University took part in. Data were collected via a scale measuring Self confidence levels of students. In data analyses, descriptive analyses, t-test and ANOVA were used. Results of the study showed that there was significant difference in terms of gender and departments. (C) 2010 Elsevier Ltd. The participants of the current study carried out in 2015-2016 academic year were 55 third year pre-service science teachers. In the study, open-ended questions were used to determine the pre-service teachers' opinions about semi-conductors. After the administration of the open-ended questions, the students were taught the topic of semiconductors within the lesson of special issues in physics. Then the open-ended questions were directed to the pre-service teachers again. The pre-service teachers' responses to these questions were categorized by using qualitative analysis method and their frequency values were obtained. The findings of the study revealed that the pre-service teachers had difficulties, before and after the administration of the questions, in defining semi-conductors. At the end of the study, the pre-service teachers were found to have some misconceptions; for example, they think that semi-conductors conduct the half of the electricity conducted by conductors. In the study, it was found that the pre-service teachers cannot define the concept of semi-conductor and this might indicate that they will not be able to teach this concept when they become teachers. In this connection, it can be suggested that studies and activities performed for teaching of abstract concepts such as conductor, semi-conductor, and insulator should be increased.Öğe Illumination effect on admittance measurements of polyvinyl alcohol (Co, Zn-doped)/n-Si Schottky barrier diodes in wide frequency and applied bias voltage range(2011) Yerişkin, Seçkin Altındal; Uslu, Habibe; Tunç, Tuncay; Altındal, ŞemsettinIn order to have a good interpretation of the illumination effect on the capacitance-voltage (C-V) and conductance-voltage (G/?-V) profiles, C-V and G/?-V characteristics of the polyvinyl alcohol (Co, Zn-Doped)/n-Si Schottky barrier diodes (SBDs) were investigated in the wide frequency and applied bias voltage ranges at room temperature. Experimental results show that the values of both C and G/? are strong functions of frequency and applied bias voltage in dark and under illumination (200 W) conditions. It is clear that the dispersion in C and G/? is considerably high in the depletion and accumulation regions due to illumination induced electron-hole pairs and series resistance (R s) effect, respectively. The values of C and G/? exponentially decrease with the increasing frequency and at high frequencies (f>100kHz) the values of C and G/? become almost independent of frequency both in dark under illumination. © 2011 American Institute of Physics.Öğe An Introduction to the New Type of Globally Framed Manifold(American Institute Physics, 2017) Aktan, Nesip; Tekin, Pelin; Akdemir, AO; Ekinci, A.; Han, I.; Set, E.; Dadasoglu, F.; Karagoz, K.; Oztekin, A.The purpose of this paper is to give an introduction to new type of globally framed manifolds. The photolithography were applied to provide micro-grooving on the film surface, which is including polyimide coatings, UV exposure, chemical etching and thermal curing process, respectively. Three type liquid crystal cells were made by provided nibbing and photolithography for planar alignment and also homeotropic alignment. Electro-optical properties of the liquid crystals were examined under the electric field at phase transition region for three type liquid crystal cells. It was observed that the photolithographic method was the more effective and acceptable results than the other conventional methods on the molecular orientations.Öğe Illumination dependent admittance characteristics of Au/Zinc acetate doped polyvinyl alcohol (PVA:Zn)/n-Si Schottky barrier diodes (SBDs)(American Institute Physics, 2011) Taşçıoğlu, İlke; Aydemir, Umut; Altındal, Şemsettin; Tunç, Tuncay; Aslan, MH; Oral, Ay; Özer, M.; Çağlar, SHThis study presents the effect of illumination on main electrical parameters of Schottky barrier diode (SBD). The admittance (capacitance-voltage (C-V) and conductance-voltage (G/omega-V)) characteristics of Au/Zinc acetate doped polyvinyl alcohol (PVA:Zn)/n-Si SBD were investigated in dark and under various illumination intensities. Experimental results demonstrate that the C-V plots give a peak due to the illumination induced interface states or electron-hole pairs at metal/semiconductor (M/S) interface. The C-2-V plots were also drawn to determine main electrical parameters such as doping concentration (N-D), depletion layer width (W-D) and barrier height (Phi(B)(C-V)) of device. In addition, the voltage dependence R-s values were obtained from C-V and G/omega-V data by using Nicollian and Brews method. In order to obtain the real diode capacitance and conductance, the high frequency (1 MHz) C-m and G(m)/w values were corrected for the effect of series resistance. All these observations confirm that both C-V and G/w-V characteristics were strongly affected by illumination.Öğe Use of learning diaries in a nature education project as an evaluation tool(Iated-İnt Assoc Technology Education A& Development, 2010) Varnacı Uzun, Funda; Uzun, Naim; Keleş, Özgül; Chova, LG; Belenguer, DM; Torres, ICIn the present study, the aim is to investigate the use of learning diaries to evaluate the contributions of the activities to the pre-service teachers carried out within the framework of the nature education project and to provide the literature with an example of using learning diaries as an evaluation tool.
