New empirical formulae for (n, t) cross sections at 1.4.6 MeV

dc.description.abstractThe aim of the present work is to develop simple empirical formulae based on the Q-value dependence of the nuclear reaction for estimating the (n, t) cross sections at energies near 14.6 MeV. The (n, t) cross sections are analyzed in terms of the compound nucleus model. The empirical formulae based on the compound nucleus model are obtained giving the cross section in terms of the investigated reaction Q-values instead of the widely used asymmetry parameter. In addition, the new formulae include two fitting parameters on even-A and odd-A target nuclei with 27 <= A <= 204. The cross section results obtained with the present formulae are compared with the experimental data. Finally, the new formulae compared with the literature data give a good fit in calculating the (n, t) reaction cross sections at energies near 14.6 MeV.
