In this study, it was aimed to remove and model Reactive Black 5 (RB5) dyestuff from aqueous solutions by adsorption process using a natural material, natural eggshell (NES). For the adsorption study, pH, initial dyestuff concentration, contact time, adsorbent amount and temperature parameters were investigated. Adsorption experiments were carried out with batch system, and RB5 removal efficiency was obtained as 99 % in the adsorption study performed under optimum adsorption conditions (pH 6, 60 min contact time, 0.5 g DYK, 25 °C, 150 rpm stirring speed, 400 mg/g initial RB5 concentration). In addition, isotherm and kinetic investigations were also carried out in the study. It was found to have a mechanism compatible with the Langmuir adsorption isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The maximum adsorption capacity of RB5 of NES was found to be 56.2 mg/g. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model was developed considering the effects of experimental parameters on adsorption in the removal of RB5 dyestuff. It has been seen that the output parameter can be estimated with a 99% correlation from the ANN model analysis. Thus, it was concluded that ANN can be used to remove RB5 from NES from waters.
