Özet
Dear Editor I am writing to address the ongoing challenges hindering effective contraceptive use in sub-Saharan Africa. As defined by the World Health Organisation, family planning enables individuals and couples to anticipate and attain their desired number of children, if any, and to determine the spacing of their pregnancies. Despite notable progress in reproductive health, significant barriers remain in sub-Saharan Africa, including economic constraints, cultural and religious opposition, and healthcare infrastructure deficiencies. These obstacles contribute to high fertility rates and maternal mortality in the region. This letter aims to highlight these issues and advocate for comprehensive, rights-based approaches to enhance contraceptive access and utilisation.
