Abstract

The problem of what knowledge is has been one of the most fundamental problems for classical theories of knowledge. What the epistemological conditions that determine the conditions and criteria of the knowledge are necessary for determining the nature of the knowledge. The debates over the answer that knowledge is the justified true belief have been highly influenced by the counter-arguments put forward by Gettier. The main reason for the continuation of the discussions is that the truth brings some metaphysical problems when analyzed epistemically. Such metaphysical problems have made the meaning of the concept of truth even more problematic. Therefore, all the claims regarding truth are intertwined with the answers given about what the knowledge is. But the truth is not a sufficient condition for knowledge and brings about the question of what the criterion of justification particularly can be fulfilled. In this regard, the research aims to discuss the Gettier problem with regard to contemporary epistemological perspectives.
