Öğe Does eWOM influence destination trust and travel intention: A medical tourism perspective(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francıs Ltd, 2016) Abubakar, Abubakar MohammedVirtual community membership has a strong influence on a tourist's behaviours and the way information is transmitted. Drawing on trust transfer theory as a theoretical framework, this study tests an empirical model that investigates the influence of electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) on destination trust and travel intention. The study also diagnoses gender differences in the proposed model. Data were obtained from a sample of 216 tourists in Cyprus. The findings from regression analyses suggest that eWOM is positively related to travel intention; eWOM is positively related to destination trust; and destination trust is positively related to travel intention. Additionally, the impact of eWOM on destination trust was significant for both genders but stronger for men, while the impact of destination trust on travel intention was stronger for women. The paper extends the existing literature regarding new response variables associated with eWOM.Öğe eLancing Motivations(Emerald Group Publishing Ltd, 2017) Abubakar, Abubakar Mohammed; Shneikat, Belal Hamed TaherPurpose - eLancing is a networked online platform used for distributive problem-solving, economic production and service delivery. The platform includes websites/marketplaces where individuals interested in being hired, and clients looking for individuals to perform some type of work meet. eLancing boasts millions of users and billions of dollars in transactions, and it involves fundamental changes in the nature of work. The motivations of this research stems from the credo and notion in which the advances in technology are transforming firm and market structures, employee-employer relationship and the increased intimacy with decentralized system. In order to explore new applications for the eLancing model, there must be a better understanding of why individuals participate in eLancing activities. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach - In total, 48 semi-structured interviews were conducted online with workers at elance.com. Findings - Ten primary motivators for participation emerged that include following: work-family balance, flexibility and autonomy; economic incentives; skills development; trust and transparency; geographical location; unemployment, equality and disability; higher returns; reputation; passion and enjoyment in problem-solving; and revenge. Originality/value - The current study has added rich qualitative data to the scanty eLancing literature and managerial implications are discussed.Öğe Knowledge management, decision-making style and organizational performance(Elsevier Espana, 2019) Abubakar, Abubakar Mohammed; Elrehail, Hamzah; Alatailat, Maher Ahmad; Elçi, AlevA synthesis of existing Industry 4.0 literature depicts that knowledge management and decision making strategies are crucial factors for organizations. This article highlights the need and develops a framework for knowledge management and decision-making style by reviewing existing management literature. This research proposes a framework that supports the relationship between knowledge management enabling factors (i.e., organizational member's collaboration, T-shaped skills, learning and IT-support) and organizational performance, and the mediating effect of knowledge creation process. The article also propose that decision-making style (i.e., intuitive and/or rational) will moderate the relationship between knowledge creation process and organizational performance. A set of propositions that represent anempirically driven research agenda, and also describe the relationships between the focal variables are presented to enhance audience's understanding within a business context.Öğe Tolerance for workplace incivility, employee cynicism and job search behavior(ROUTLEDGE JOURNALS, TAYLOR & FRANCIS, 2018) Abubakar, Abubakar Mohammed; Megeirhi, Huda Abdullah; Shneikat, Belal Hamed TaherWorkplace incivility is a source of predominant stress in organizations, and a vital cause for job search behavior (JSB). Drawing upon conservation resource theory, this paper examines the relationship between tolerance for workplace incivility (TWI), JSB and cynicism among employed individuals. Utilizing data obtain from n=331 hotel employees in Jordan, a structural equation modeling was applied. The data revealed that (1) TWI has a positive impact on JSB; (2) that cynicism has a positive impact on JSB and (3) and that cynicism does not moderate the relationship between TWI and JSB. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.Öğe Workplace injuries, safety climate and behaviors: application of an artificial neural network(Taylor and Francis, 2018) Abubakar, Abubakar Mohammed; Karadal, Himmet; Bayighomog, Steven W.; Merdan, EthemThis article proposes and tests a model for the interaction effect of the organizational safety climate and behaviors on workplace injuries. Using artificial neural network and survey data from 306 metal casting industry employees in central Anatolia, we found that an organizational safety climate mitigates workplace injuries, and safety behaviors enforce the strength of the negative impact of the safety climate on workplace injuries. The results suggest a complex relationship between the organizational safety climate, safety behavior and workplace injuries. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed in light of decreasing workplace injuries in the Anatolian metal casting industry. © 2018 Central Institute for Labour Protection – National Research Institute (CIOP-PIB)
