Tyanalı Apollonius’un Pythagorasçı kökenleri üzerine bir değerlendirme

| dc.description.abstract | Kapadokyalı bir bilge olan Tyanalı Apollonius düşünce tarihinde kendisine yer bulabilmiş bir düşünürdür. Apollonius, günümüze ulaşan “Mektuplar” adlı eserinde kendisini Pythagorasçı bir düşünür olarak tanıtmaktadır. Bu çalışmada “Mektuplar” adlı eserinden hareketle Apollonius’un düşünceleri üzerinde Pythagorasçı felsefenin etkileri ele alınmaktadır. Zira Apollonius’un ahlaktan sanata, bilimden politikaya kadar pek çok konudaki düşüncelerini ihtiva eden söz konusu eserinde Pythagorasçı ve Yeni Pythagorasçı düşüncenin izleri açıkça görülmektedir. Apollonius, Pythagorasçı düşüncede yer alan ruh göçü, ruhun ölümsüzlüğü ve ruhun arındırılması gibi görüşlere eserinde yer vermektedir. Yine Apollonius’un Pythagorasçılıktan etkilenerek insanın kendisini denetim altında tutmasını salık veren bir ahlaksal yaşam teklifinde bulunduğu görülmektedir. Pythagorasçıların politika ve yönetime dair düşünceleri de Apollonius’un politika felsefesine ilişkin fikirlerini etkilemiştir. Nitekim Apollonius, Mektuplar’da Pythagorasçı felsefede yer alan “bilgelerin kral olması” fikrini kabul etmekte ve desteklemektedir. Bununla birlikte Apollonius, Pythagorasçıların ‘bilgelerin kral olması’ gerektiği şeklindeki düşüncesiyle de yetinmeyip, Stoacı düşüncedeki tüm yeryüzünü vatan olarak görme anlayışını ve dünya vatandaşlığı görüşünü de savunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada Tyanalı düşünür Apollonius’un pek çok alandaki görüşleri üzerinde açık bir şekilde Pythagorasçı etkilerin olduğu saptanmış ve söz konusu etkiler gösterilmeye çalışılmıştır. | |
| dc.description.abstract | Apollonius of Tyana, a scholar from the province of Cappadocia, has his place in the history of thought. In his extant work The Letters, Apollonius introduces himself as a Pythagorean philosopher. This study, based on The Letters, deals with the effects of the Pythagorean philosophy on the ideas of Apollonius of Tyana. Apollonius’ thoughts on morals, art, science, and politics have overtones of Pythagorean, and New Pythagorean thought as realized in that work. In that work, Apollonius mentions transmigration of the soul, the immortality of the soul, and purification of the soul which have places in the Pythagorean thought. Influenced by the Pythagorean thought, Apollonius puts forward a proposal that commends a moral life so that one may be under self-control. The Pythagorean thoughts on politics and administration had impacts on Apollonius’ thoughts on the philosophy of politics. Apollonius, in the Letters, seems to have accepted and supported the idea of “the philosopher king who has a love of wisdom” that is mentioned in the Pythagorean thought. Yet, Apollonius is not content with the idea of “the philosopher king who has a love of wisdom”, he also supports the Stoical idea that believes in the world citizenship which considers the whole land as homeland. This study puts forth that on his views in many fields, Apollonius of Tyana had clearly Pythagorean impacts, as examined. | |
