dc.description.abstractEvliya Çelebi (1611-1684?) Osmanlı Devleti’nin 17. yüzyılına tanıklık ederek gözlem yapmış ve bu gözlemlerini Seyahatnâme adlı on ciltlik eserinde toplamıştır. Evliya Çelebi Seyahatnâmesi sadece bir gezginin notlarından ibaret değildir. Halk kültüründen müziğe, mimariden tıp alanına, yemeklerden coğrafi anlatılara kadar sayısız konuların yanı sıra dönemin padişahlarıyla görüşme imkânı bulduğu için onların tasvirlerine de eserinde yer vermiştir. Günümüzde de merak konusu olan Osmanlı padişahlarının fiziksel görünüşlerine dair bilgilere, kaside ve şehnâme gibi edebi tasvirlerden, görsel tasvirlerine ise dönemin minyatürleri ve portrelerinden ulaşırız. Saray sanatçılarının Ehl-i Hiref teşkilatı nakkaşhanesinde çalışarak minyatür geleneğinde yaptığı portreler, padişahların fiziksel özelliklerini oldukça gerçekçi bir biçimde yansıtmıştır. Araştırma konumuzun temelini oluşturan Seyahatnâme’de Evliya Çelebi ise, Osman Gazi'den(1281-1326) başlayarak IV. Mehmed'e (1642-1693) kadar hüküm sürmüş on dokuz padişah ve onların şehzadelerinin biyografilerine yer vermiştir. Döneminin padişah tasvirlerinin anlatıldığı kaside, şehname vb. edebi eserlerinin yanı sıra, minyatür ve portre gibi görsellerin de var olmasına rağmen Evliya Çelebi’nin Seyahatnâme’sindeki tasvirler diğer kaynaklardan farklıdır. Çünkü Evliya Çelebi, yaşadığı dönemin hükümdarlarıyla -I. Ahmed (1603-1617), I. Mustafa (1617-1623), II. Osman (1618-1622), IV. Murad (1623-1640), I. İbrahim (1640-1648), IV. Mehmed (1648-1687)- ile sık sık yüz yüze görüşme fırsatı bulmuş hattaI V. Murad’ın musahibi olarak onu yakından tanımıştır. Dönem padişahlarının günlük yaşantılarına ve fizyonomisine dair bilgileri, birinci el kaynak olarak Seyahatnâme’de irdelemeye çalışacağız. Araştırmada, Evliya Çelebi Seyahatnâmesi’nde adı geçen padişahların edebi tasvirleri, mevcut minyatür ve portreleri yani tariften tasvire karşılaştırmalı olarak ele alınacaktır
dc.description.abstractEvliya Çelebi (1611-1684) witnessed the 17th century of the Ottoman Empire and collected these observations in his ten volume work titled Seyahatnâme. Evliya Çelebi's Seyahatnâme is not just a traveler's notes. Since he had the opportunity to meet with the sultans of the period as well as numerous issues ranging from folk culture to music, from architecture to medicine, from food to geographic narratives, he also included their descriptions in his works. We can find information about topics which we are still curious about today, such as the physical appearance of the Ottoman sultans, the literary depictions such as kaside and sehnâme, the visual depictions of the period miniatures and portraits. The portraits performed by the palace artists in the miniature tradition by working at the nakkashane of the Ehl-i Hiref organization reflected the physical characteristics of the sultans in a very realistic way. Evliya Çelebi's Seyahatnâme, which is the basis of our research subject, gave a place to the biographies of nineteen sultans and their princes starting with Osman Gazi and ending with Mehmed IV. Although there are literary works, images such as miniatures and portraits to describe the sultans, the depictions of Evliya Çelebi in Seyahatnâme are different from other sources. Because Evliya Çelebi frequently had the opportunity to meet with the rulers of his time - (Ahmed I (1603-1617), Mustafa I (1617-1623), Osman II (1618-1622), Murad IV (1623-1640), İbrahim I (1640-1648), Mehmed IV (1648-1687)- and even knew Murad IV very well as a result of Murad's acquaintance with him. We will try to examine the daily life and physiognomy of the period's sultans with the help of the first-hand source Seyahatnâme. In this study, the literary descriptions of the sultans in Evliya Çelebi's Seyahatnâme will be examined comparativerly with the existing miniatures and portraits.
