Özet
İktisadın bir bilim olarak ortaya çıkış sürecinde, doğa bilimlerinin gerek statüsü, gerekse yöntemi dönemin düşünürlerini derinden etkilemiştir. Bu durumun en net görüldüğü isimler kuşkusuz William Petty ve François Quesnay’dir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, empirik gözlem ve istatistiksel verilerden geniş ölçüde yararlanarak, iktisadi analizini “Politik Aritmetik” olarak tasarlayan Petty ve ekonominin işleyişini insan vücudu ve makine analojisi aracılığıyla “Ekonomik Tablo”da gösteren Quesnay özelinde doğa bilimlerinin iktisadın ortaya çıkış sürecindeki etkilerini gözler önüne sermektir.
The status and method of natural sciences had a profound effect in emergence of Economics as a science. This is especially apparent in the works of William Petty and François Quesnay. The aim of this paper is to reveal the influence of natural sciences in formation process of economics particularly in Petty, who conceived his economic analysis as “Political Arithmetic” using empirical observations and statistical data widely, and Quesnay, who showed the working of economy by an analogy to human body and machine in his “Tableau Économique”.
