Biosensors are the focus of much attention from the scientists and these systems, which are the center oof various scientific communities are employed to improve the quality of human life. One of these platforms, plasmonic nanosensors with sensitivity, real-time monitoring, and label-free sensing capability make them as promising platforms utilized in various fields. In the first part of this section, we introduce the general concept of plasmonics and a short brief of surface plasmon theory. Following that, the key features of plasmonic nanoparticles, their fabrication processes, and their positive effects on sensing systems are discussed. In the second part, the key concepts of surface plasmon resonance (SPR), localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR), propagating surface plasmon resonance (PSPR), and surface-enhanced raman scattering (SERS)-based sensors are summarized and finally, the sensing capabilities of these plasmonic nanosensors for biomedical application, agricultural studies, and warfare threats are discussed using relevant articles.
