Abstract
Fazıl Hüsnü Dağlarca, one of the important poets of Turkish literature, creates a calming atmosphere in his poetry book, Child and God (Çocuk ve Allah). The poet associates the concepts like the world of children, the presence of God and the existence of cosmos with the images of silence, darkness, and solitude. He looks to the past, the future, the death and the presence of living and inanimate objects within the universe inside the silence and the darkness. In order to establish a link between the images and mysticism, in this study it is aimed to examine the images that both gives the impression of an escape from life and matter and that carry sense of serenity. Some images reminding us of mysticism are worth noticing although terms of Islamic Sufism were not explicitly used.
