Özet
In this study, Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar's work named the Witch (Cadı) was evaluated in the context of fantastic literature. In this direction, the work has been evaluated in the context of the uncanny and the marvelous and other genres close to this genre, which constitute the main genre of fantastic literature. During the evaluation, the fantastic uncertainty process, which is a necessary criterion for a work to be included in the fantastic genre, was taken as a basis. In addition, marvelous elements in the work were also examined. The aim here is to determine in which way the specified elements contribute to the fiction. As a result of the examinations, it was seen that marvelous elements in the work were presented to the reader, especially with their mystery and horror qualities. The fantastic events seen from the beginning of the work are explained realistic perspective by Kadir Bey's letter at the end of the novel. This result contributed to the determination of the genre of this novel. In this direction, it has been concluded that the work is within the scope of uncanny, which is one of the main genres close to the fantastic genre, and uncanny - fantastic from the sub-genres. In addition, it has been determined that this novel is close to the fantastic genre with some of its qualities. The lack of a realistic perspective for the extraordinary events that happened to Şükriye Hanım's father, especially in the old house, is the main element that causes fantastic uncertainty. However, it has been concluded that the work is not in the fantastic genre, since this situation is not included in the work in general and there is a realistic explanation of the events experienced.
