| dc.description.abstract | Mehmet Asaf Bey’in, Osmanlı Devleti’nin çalkantılı siyasî atmosferinde görev yaptığı Yafa ve Birusseba kazalarında Yahudi göçleri sorunu ile Cebelibereket Sancağı’nda görev yaparken 1909 Adana Olayları baş göstermiştir. Bu zorlu ve sorunlu bölgelerde görev yapmanın bir idareci için oldukça sıkıntılı bir süreç olduğu göz önüne alınırsa, Mehmet Asaf Bey’in de görev yaptığı yerlerin, onun memuriyetinin sorgulanmasına yol açtığını söyleyebiliriz. Onun Cebelibereket Sancağı’nda görev yaptığı dönemde Adana ve çevresinde Ermeni olayları meydana gelmiştir. Bu araştırmada görülmektedir ki Mehmet Asaf Bey, Ermeni isyanını önlemek için tedbirler almaya çalışmış, bölgede bozulan asayişin yeniden tesisinde önemli görev üstlenmiştir. Çalışma, Adana gibi politik, sosyo kültürel ve idarî bakımdan oldukça hassas olan bölgenin idari ve sosyal meselelerine de ışık tutacaktır. | dc.description.abstract | Mehmet Asaf Bey encountered Jewish migration issue while stationed in Yafa and Beersheba, and then 1909 Adana events while he was stationed in Sanjak of Cebelibereket. Considering the hardships of serving in those problematic and challenging regions, it can be argued that these missions also caused Mehmet Asaf Bey’s official service came under criticism. During his mission at the sanjak of Cebelibereket, Armenian rebellion took place in Adana and the surrounding regions. This article shows that Mehmet Asaf Bey took precautions to prevent Armenian rebellion and undertook important tasks to restore order that has been interrupted due to the rebellion. This article also evaluates administrative and social issues in Adana which is a politically, culturally and administratively fragile region. Armenian events in the sanjak of Cebelibereket during Mehmet Asaf Bey’s service and his trial for his alleged involvement in those events are analyzed. | |
