dc.description.abstract | In this work, the performance of a greenhouse is analyzed with the application in heating systems in the Mediterranean climate of Turkey. The study has been carried out in the region of Antalya (30.42E, 36.53N). Investigations on the performance of the greenhouse have been conducted incorporating the effects of (1) a vacuum tube solar collector, (2) a heat pump, and (3) a wood biomass boiler for the heating applications during the autumn. As a case study, a greenhouse with a volume of 5000m3 and net floor area of 1000m2 is considered under the present investigation with indoor temperature as 25°C and exterior air temperature as 10°C. Overall exergy efficiency of the solar collector, heat pump, and wood biomass for heating systems were calculated as 33.11%, 2.14%, and 15.32%, respectively. It was concluded that for the Mediterranean climate the performance of greenhouse was improved with the use of a solar collector. © 2018 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. | |
