dc.description.abstractPreventing and treating chronic diseases and disorders is a basic requirement of healthy aging. Hereditary and acquired modalities determine the onset and progression of chronic diseases and disorders. Life expectancy is increasing in the aging society. Seniors frequently prefer an active lifestyle that includes traveling and regular exercise. Requirements of healthy aging are closely related to preventing and/or monitoring neurodegenerative, oncological, and chronic diseases. The musculoskeletal system is an essential and integral part of human motion. Without healthy bones, joints, and skeletal muscles, a person cannot expect to live an active and independent life. This chapter discusses aging of the musculoskeletal system as well as regenerative and restorative treatments for musculoskeletal disorders with a focus on platelet-rich plasma in osteoarthritis.
