Abstract
Bu araştırmanın amacı, 8. sınıf fen bilimleri dersi öğretim programında yer alan basit makineler ünitesinin düşünce deneyi etkinlikleri ile öğretiminin öğrencilerin kavramsal anlama düzeylerine etkisinin belirlenmesidir. Araştırma, karma yöntem araştırma desenlerinden gömülü desende yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın nicel boyutunda ön test, son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen, nitel boyutunda ise olgubilim(fenomenoloji) deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, 2018–2019 eğitim öğretim yılında, ortaokul 8. sınıfta öğrenim gören 41 öğrenciden oluşturulmuştur. Basit makineler ünitesi kapsamında, deney grubunda düşünce deneyi etkinlikleri ile öğretim yapılırken, kontrol grubunda ise öğretim programında öngörülen yöntemler kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel verileri, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen kavramsal anlama testi ile toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın nitel verileri ise yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmelerden ve etkinlik çalışma yapraklarından elde edilmiştir. Nitel veriler ise içerik analizi ve betimsel analize tabi tutulmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda, deney grubu ile kontrol grubu arasında kavramsal anlamaları bakımından deney grubu lehine anlamlı bir fark olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Öğrencileri görüşlerinin de bu durumu destekler nitelikte olduğu görülmektedir.Öğrencilerin kavramsal anlamalarına olumlu etkide bulunan düşünce deneyi etkinliklerinin uygulanma süreci ve sonuçlarına ilişkin önerilere yer verilmiştir.
The purpose of this survey is to determine the effects of thought experiment activities on conceptual comprehension level of grade eight students for the theme of simple machines which exists in the curriculum of sciences lesson for grade eight. This survey was carried out through an embedded pattern which is one of the mixed research patterns. In the quantitative aspect of the research, pretest, posttest, semi-experimental pattern with a control group was used and in the qualitative part of the survey, phenomenology pattern was used. Sample group (workgroup) of the survey consists of 41 grade 8 students of a secondary school in the 2018-2019 academic year. While thought experiment activities were being carried out with an experiment group in the scope of simple machines unit, methods assumed in the curriculum were applied for the same subject with the control group. Quantitative data of the survey was collected through conceptual comprehension test which was developed by the researcher and qualitative data of the survey was gained through semi-structured interviews and activity worksheets. At the end of the survey, a significant difference in the countenance of the experiment group was found out in terms of conceptual comprehension of either group. It is also seen that views of the students support this inference too. Suggestions on application process and results of thought experiment activities which have had positive effects on conceptual comprehension of the students, have also been mentioned in the survey.
