dc.description.abstractArtificial intelligence (AI), as a part of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, plays an essential role in making the technology-based learning process easier. The teaching and learning process is changing with innovation and creativity in education, especially recent AI developments. AI-based educational technologies like personalized learning systems, voice assistants, virtual mentors, educational games, automatic assessment systems, and intelligent tutoring systems have brought many innovations and conveniences for teachers, learners, and administrators in educational institutions. Teachers can report student learning outcomes, make learning resources and plans, and understand students' needs more easily with the collaboration of AI. Learners can also achieve educational goals more effectively. Educational institutions are partnering with the industry to create AI-based solutions for reducing college costs and allowing students to customize their learning experiences to meet their needs. According to the Educause Horizon Report, AI in the US education sector is expected to exceed a market cap of $85 million by 2022, with a compound annual growth rate of 48% (Educause, 2022). Therefore, it will become significant for the stakeholders in the education sector to be aware of the applications developed with AI technology and to benefit from using them. This study aims to present AI-based software tools and technologies, such as, learning platforms, intelligent tutoring systems (ITS), chatbots, automated assessment systems, and intelligent virtual reality. Also, it will be discussed how students, educators, and administrators in higher education can benefit from artificial intelligence-based tools and applications.
