Özet
Süleyman Feyyaz son yüzyılda yetişmiş Mısırlı bir roman, hikâye yazarı ve Arap dilbilimcisidir. Ülkemizde tanınmış bir yazar değildir. 1959 yılında Ezher Üniversitesi Arap Dili Fakültesinden yüksek lisans derecesiyle mezun olan yazar, çeşitli Arap ülkelerinde ve kendi ülkesinde öğretmen olarak çalıştı. Memuriyet hayatının yanı sıra hikâye dergileri çıkarmış; kısa roman ve Arap-İslam kültüründe meşhur olmuş bilim adamı ve tarihi şahsiyetlerin hayatını anlattığı kısa hikâye tarzında biyografik eserler yazmış, birçok radyo ve televizyon programlarında görev almıştır. Esvât (Sesler) onun yazmış olduğu ilk ve en ünlü kısa romanıdır. Yayınlandığı yetmişli yıllarda gerek Arap dünyasında gerekse Batı'da çok yankı bulmuş ve birçok dile tercüme edilerek yayınlanmıştır. Romanın konusu daha önce de birçok Arap yazarın işlediği Doğu-Batı kültür çatışmasıdır. Kırklı yıllarda Nil deltasındaki bir köyde yaşanmış gerçek bir olay kurgulanır. Romanda Mısır toplumunun geri kalmışlığı, ahlâkî değerlerdeki kayboluş ve Batı kültürüyle çatışma sonucu ortaya çıkan sorunlar kahramanların tanıklığı ile tasvir edilir. Sonuç bir trajedidir. 67 Arap-İsrail savaşı sonrası yazılması hasebiyle mevcut yönetime olan eleştiri dolaylı olarak okuyucuya sunulur.
Soleiman Fayyad, is an Egyptian novelist, storywriter and linguist of Arabic who grew up in the last century. He is not well-known writer in our country. The writer who graduated from Al-Azhar University Faculty of Arabic Language, worked as a teacher in his country and in various Arabic countries. Besides his officer life, he published story magazines, wrote biographical narrative works in novelle style which tell the lifes of famous scientists and historic people in Arab-İslamic culture and attende took part in many television and radio programs. Asvât (Voices) is his first written and the most famous novelle. It was published in 70s and made great impact in both Arab and Western World and was translated to many languages. The topic of the novel was the conflict between the East and the West which was discussed by many Arab writers before. A true story taking place in a village in Nile delta is fictionalised. Undevelopment of Eygptian society, loss of moral values and problems emerging from conflict with West culture are described with witness of protagonists. The result is tradegy. Critism of present government was presented to readers indirectly because it was written after 67 Arab-Israel war.
