Effects of supplemental bee pollen on performance, meat quality, serum constituents and immunity system in growing quails
(South African Journal for Animal Sciences, 2021) Sevim, Behlül
This study focused on the effects of adding various levels of bee pollen to diets for Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix Japonica). The response variables that were examined included their performance, carcass characteristics, meat colour, immune system, and some serum constituents. A total of 160 one-day-old quail chicks were used. These chicks were randomly assigned to four treatments, each consisting of 40 chicks. These groups were further divided into four replicates of ten birds. The treatments consisted of diets to which 0.0, 2.5, 5.0, and 10 g/kg bee pollen were added. The feeding period lasted 42 days. The performance and serum biochemistry of the growing quails were not affected by the addition of bee pollen to the diet. The addition of 5 g/kg bee pollen increased the follicle weight and the L* value of the breast, and decreased the a* value of the thigh. It also improved the serum immunoglobulin A (IgA) content. Thus, the addition of 5 g/kg bee pollen to the diet of growing quails was effective in improving follicle development, meat quality and immune system.
Rail-to-rail cmos voltage buffer design for lcd column drivers
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2021) Osmani, Festim; Arslan, Emre; Kıyak, İsmail
A high-speed rail-to-rail CMOS buffer amplifier with LCD column driver application and a very simple circuit structure, is proposed. The buffer employs a differential FVF at the input stage as a main circuit block as well as a smaller number of transistors compared to many other buffer designs. Advantages of this buffer compared to many others are low quiescent current, very small output impedance and a very small settling time characteristic. The main simulations have been performed using LTSpice with 0.35 μm CMOS technology parameters, whereas the layout is drawn using Microwind. The simulations reveal a result of 0.3 μs in terms of settling time with a power supply of 3.3 V while driving a 1 nF capacitive load and the quiescent current is found to be 3.95 μA. The buffer amplifier is also analyzed in terms of FOM (Figure-of-Merit) performance measure and compared to other previous published buffers, in which the proposed circuit shows an outstanding and better performance. Moreover, the robustness of the proposed circuit to process mismatches and tolerances are verified by Monte Carlo analysis
MOS-Only current mode filter design
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2021) Elmalı, Semih; Kızılırmak, Şafak Murat; Arslan, Emre
This work presents a current mode filter circuit that makes use of only the MOS transistors and its parasitic elements like the transconductance and gate-to-source capacitance. The core circuit, which shows the ac equivalent circuit, has only three MOS transistors. The proposed circuit has a very basic circuit structure and a small layout area. The main advantage of the proposed circuit, as compared to filters formed by the active and passive circuit elements, is the operating frequency range and also the cost. Using 0.35um AMS spice parameters, LTSpice simulations are performed. It is given that the simulation results are in harmony with the theoretical results.
PUFA and MUFA
(Elsevier, 2021) Öz, Mustafa; Uçak, İlknur; Nayik, Gulzar Ahmad
Fatty acids are important structural components that are required for the metabolic events. Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) include multiple double bonds while monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) have one double bond which makes them different from the other fatty acids in the cis configuration in their chemical structure. Such fatty acids have benefits which are positive and protective on human health and development including decrease in the risk of cardiovascular diseases which have risk of death, effects in cancer prevention and treatment, attenuation of the risk of Alzheimer’s disease, relieve of clinical symptoms in skin diseases, asthma, allergic diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, eczema, seborrhoeic dermatitis, psoriasis, and reduction in the risk of diabetes. In this chapter, sources, extraction techniques, bioavailability, stability, safety, and toxicology, and health benefits of PUFAs and MUFAs will be discussed.
The qualities of effective teachers in the eyes of Turkish students
(IGI Global, 2021) Orakçı, Şenol
The present study was performed with the purpose of exploring views of middle school students about the effective teacher characteristics. For this purpose, qualitative research method was used. The study included 27 middle school students enrolled at different middle schools in Ankara, Turkey. In the study, content analysis method was utilized. According to analysis results, three major themes named "Professional Qualifications, ″ "Professional Values, ″ and "Human Values" were identified depending on middle school students' views. The findings were interpreted in the light of relevant literature.
