Abstract
Issues such as violence against women and the representation of this type of violence in the media, the problematic and duties of the media in preventing such violence are discussed extensively on academic platforms and are subject to international and national legal regulations from time to time. However, the framework that both legal regulations, research and academic studies and the media draw in defining violence against women is quite similar to each other, and the most general line of this framework, including the representation of this in the media, is in the form of “violence from men” against women. In this study, the limitations of this framework drawn on violence against women were discussed with examples from various media channels, it was suggested that violence against women should be included in this framework, and the idea that the media is one of the most appropriate platforms to examine this phenomenon. Descriptive analysis method was used as a method, and the subject was discussed with examples over a wide range of media contents such as social media and movies, as well as television contents such as commercials, series and competition programs, without any time limitation.
