İlköğretim 4. ve 5.sınıflarda STEM eğitimi alanında yapılan tez çalışmalarının değerlendirilmesi

Özet
STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics) eğitim yaklaşımı, Türkiye’de oldukça önem kazanmış ve bu durum akademik çalışmalara da yansımıştır. Bu araştırmanın amacı, 4. ve 5. sınıfta STEM eğitimine yönelik yapılan çalışmalarla ilgili doküman analizi yöntemini kullanarak genel bir tablo sunmaktır. Araştırmada, 4. ve 5. Sınıf düzeylerinde, 2010-2020 yılları arasındaki toplam 31 çalışma incelenmiştir. Yapılan çalışmalara ilişkin amaç, yıl, yöntem, veri toplama araçları, örneklem, yayın türü, veri analizi ve sonuçları betimleyen tablolar oluşturulmuştur. İncelenen tez çalışmalarının sonucunda, nitel araştırmaların ve öğretmenler üzerinde yapılan çalışmaların az olduğunu söylemek mümkündür. Çalışmaların sonuçlarında STEM eğitiminin öğrencilerin akademik başarı, STEM’e yönelik tutum ve meslek ilgisi gibi konularda olumlu etkiye sahip olduğu, her geçen yıl STEM eğitimine yönelik çalışmalarının arttığı bulgularına ulaşılmıştır. Öneriler bağlamında, 4. ve 5. Sınıf düzeyinde, STEM eğitimine ilişkin gelecek araştırmalara yöntem olarak nitel araştırmalara ve odak grup görüşmeye, örneklem açısından öğretmenlere, etkileri açısından, yaratıcı, yansıtıcı düşünme ve 21. yy. becerileri, bilimsel yaratıcılık ve günlük hayatla ilişkilendirme üzerine etkisinin araştırılması şeklinde, yeni bir araştırma konusu olarak önerilebilir. Ek olarak, teknoloji boyutu ve teknoloji okuryazarlığı bağlamında araştırmaların olmaması, bu alanla ilgili çalışmalar yapılması yönünde öneriler verilebilir.
The STEM education approach has gained a lot of importance in Turkey and this situation is also reflected in academic studies. The purpose of this research is to present a general picture of the studies on STEM education in the 4th and 5th grades by using the document analysis method. A total of 31 studies between the years 2010-2020 at the 4th and 5th grade levels were examined in the research. Tables describing the purpose, year, method, data collection tools, sample, type of publication, data analysis and results of the studies were created. As a result of the thesis studies examined, it is possible to say that qualitative research and studies on teachers are scarce. As a result of the studies, it has been found that STEM education has a positive effect on students' academic success, attitudes towards STEM and professional interest, and the number of studies on STEM education increases every year. Considering the results of the study, it is seen that future research on STEM education will focus on qualitative research as a method, focus group interview as a data collection tool, teachers in terms of sampling, creative, reflective thinking and 21st century in terms of its effects. It can be suggested as a new research topic to investigate the effects on skills, scientific creativity and associating with daily life. In addition, suggestions can be made to conduct studies in this field in the absence of research in the context of technology dimension and technology literacy.
