    Analytic formulas for calculating the quasistatic parameters of a multilayer cylindrical coplanar strip line

    Fast, simple, and accurate analytic expressions are derived for calculating the quasistatic TEM parameters of a multilayer cylindrical coplanar strip line (MC CPS). The effects of the dielectric materials on the quasi-TEM characteristics are investigated using the conformal mapping method. The derived results are compared with those of a corresponding planar CPS. The curvature effects on the quasistatic parameters are also discussed. In addition, it has been observed that the effect of the inner substrate on the quasistatic parameters is much less than the outer substrate.

    Bandstop Filter Using Slow-wave CPW Resonator with Defected Ground Structure

    A novel slow-wave CPW resonator with defected ground structures (DGSs) in rectangular spacing-like shapes is investigated. This structure has an extremely compact size. Simulations and experimental results have verified that the structure provides a size reduction of about 33% against a conventional CPW resonator. Two bandstop filter examples are demonstrated. The bandstop filter realized with a fractional 20-dB bandwidth of 25% at 1.575 GHz includes a slow-wave CPW with DGS loaded periodically by four spiral-shaped resonators.
