Data was collected from 104 pre-service elementary mathematics teachers and 100 mathematics department students in the spring semester of 2011-2012 at a public university in Turkey. Beliefs About Mathematics Scale developed by Aksu, Engin, Sumer (2002) was used as a data collection instrument. The data obtained was analyzed by using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS 20.0) program. The results of the study revealed that beliefs about mathematics did not differ in terms gender and department. (C) 2013 The Authors.
