Nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden karşılaştırma araştırması modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırma 2016-2017 eğitim-öğretim yılında Sakarya’da bir Anadolu Lisesinde 9. sınıfta okuyan 89 öğrenci üzerinde yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın verileri araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen her bir bilgilendirici metinle ilgili 2 sorudan oluşan “Okuduğunu Anlama Becerisi Ölçme Aracı” ile elde edilmiştir. Neden bağlacı olan ve olmayan bilgilendirici metinleri okuyan öğrencilerin okuduğunu anlama başarı puanlarında neden bağlaçlı bilgilendirici metinleri okuyan öğrencilerin lehine anlamlı farklar tespit edilmiştir. Dolayısıyla elde edilen bu sonuç ile metinlerde yerinde ve uygun sayıda neden bağlacına yer verilmesinin metnin anlaşılabilirliğinin artmasına büyük katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.The purpose of the current study is to determine the effect of cause and effect conjunctions on the comprehension achievement in informative texts. The current study employed the comparative research model, one of the qualitative research methods. The study was conducted on 89 ninth grade students attending an Anatolian High School in the city of Sakarya in 2016-2017 school year. The data of the study were collected by means of “The Reading Comprehension Skill Evaluation Tool” developed by the researcher and including two questions for each informative text. Between the reading comprehension achievement scores of the students reading the forms of the informative texts with conjunctions and the ones without conjunctions, significant differences were found in favor of the students reading the texts with conjunctions.
